Educator & Leader
Dr. Amira Clemens, PhD, RN
I am a nurse scientist, educator, and executive leader with extensive experience in nursing education, healthcare workforce development, and community-engaged scholarship. My work is grounded in advancing health equity, strengthening clinical training pipelines, and supporting historically underserved populations through education and systems-level change.
Professional Background
I hold a PhD in Nursing and have served in multiple academic and leadership roles across higher education and community-based organizations. My professional background includes teaching across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, curriculum development, clinical instruction, and academic mentorship.
I bring a practice-informed, research-driven approach to leadership, bridging theory and practice to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Leadership & Workforce Development
In addition to my academic work, I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Cultural Institute of Health and Education (CIHE), a nonprofit organization focused on expanding access to entry-level healthcare training, including phlebotomy and EKG technician programs. CIHE reflects her commitment to workforce equity and community-based education.
While CIHE represents one component of my leadership, my professional work extends beyond organizational leadership to include consulting, program development, and partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare systems, and workforce development initiatives.
Scholarship & Research Interests
My scholarly work centers on health equity, social determinants of health, and support-seeking behaviors among Black youth aging out of foster care, a marginalized population. My research emphasizes community engagement, qualitative inquiry, and translating evidence into practice.
I have presented at regional and national conferences and remain actively engaged in scholarship that informs education, policy, and practice.
